ASGO ASM Postponed

We wish to formally advise that given the current COVID-19 situation and the lack of clarity from the Australian and State Governments regarding travel restrictions, it has been decided to postpone the ASGO 2020 Annual Scientific Meeting that was originally scheduled for 13th – 17th May then changed to the 14th to 17th October 2020 at Elements of Byron.  The meeting will now be held from the 19th to 23rd May 2021.

We very much hope that you will still be able to join us in  Byron Bay come May 2021.

Prof Robert Coleman

Dr. Coleman is Professor, in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Medicine at the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and holds the Ann Rife Cox Chair in Gynecology and serves as Executive Director, Cancer Network Research. His research interests include drug discovery and novel therapeutics for ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancer, clinical trial development and statistical design. He is PI or co-PI for several CTEP-funded prospective clinical trials including those supporting the MDACC Ovarian and Uterine SPOREs, as well as, several partnered pharmaceutical sponsored trials. He is a project lead on the MDACC Gynecologic Cancer Moonshot and serves as a dyad Director of GOG-Partners, a clinical trials component of GOG Foundation, Inc. He has authored or coauthored over 500 scientific publications, including over 290 peer-reviewed original research articles.

A/Prof Jessica McAlpine

 

Dr. Jessica McAlpine is a Gynecologic Oncologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of British Columbia and BC Cancer Agency, Vancouver, Canada. Her research focuses on molecular/genomic characterization of ovarian and endometrial cancers and ovarian cancer prevention. Dr. McAlpine is Director of the OVCARE gynecologic tissue bank.

Fellows' and ASGO Members are invited to submit abstracts. Abstract submission is essential to qualify for the discounted fellow's/trainee's registration rate. Abstracts should be a maximum of 150 words and must be submitted by using the link below no later than
midnight (AEST) Friday 6th March 2020.

Tony McCartney Surgical Innovation Prize

Tony McCartney made an enormous contribution to the wellbeing of Australian women suffering from a gynaecologic malignancy. He was an outstanding member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Gynaecologic Oncologists and a true innovator. Tony developed the McCartney Tube and the technique for Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy. This revolutionized the management of women with endometrial cancer and laparoscopic surgery in general.

The Tony McCartney Surgical Innovation Prize will be awarded to an ASGO member or Fellow/Trainee for the best presentation (video or otherwise) describing an innovative surgical technique or procedure.
